Warm Interest for Revised Edition

Geomares Publishing have released the third and totally revised edition of the book 'The Electronic Chart: Functions, Potential and Limitations' by Horst Hecht, Bernhard Berking, Mathias Jonas and Lee Alexander. The new edition receives a warm interest, indicated by the number of pre-orders made since the first announcement was made.

Publisher Durk Haarsma: 'I am very happy to present this completely revised edition to the community professionals that need to be trained in working with ECDIS. Together with the team of authors we have sure that this new book holds the same standard as the previous edition, but is even more suited for trainers and trainees. On the verge of ECDIS becoming obligatory in 2012 The Electronic Chart, with the free ecdis training software, is a must-have for shipping companies, maritime schools and navigation training institutes and port authorities all over the world. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Horst Hecht, Bernhard Berking, Mathias Jonas and Lee Alexander. Through their in-depth knowledge and authority they were able to set the standard for the forthcoming years.'

4-level ECDIS Concept

The Transas Marine 4-level ECDIS concept is designed to provide an IMO compliant solution for the shipping companies. The range of product packages Standard, Standard+, Premium and Premium+, features Transas Navi-Sailor software applied through all systems. All packages include selected standard features with an extensive range of additional options.

Anders Rydlinger, Transas Marine Product Development Director says the objective is to provide a solution to the market where a "Standard" system features the best available quality and at the same time is user-friendly and cost-efficient. On another side, there are shipping companies preferring to utilise a comprehensive technology going beyond IMO requirements. This 4-level concept is developed to cover all market requirements.
